Leadership Fairfax (LFx) is seeking a dynamic team player who is committed to our mission of developing and connecting community leaders to join our small but dedicated staff. The Director of Advancement will help drive the growth of the organization by developing partnerships and opportunities for financial investments. The ideal candidate will have existing relationships in Fairfax County.

Reports To: The Coordinator, Leadership Programs will report directly to the President & CEO

Position Description:

Leadership Fairfax is searching for a detail oriented, self-starter to join our dynamic and dedicated team.The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member who can “own” their work but also jump in to help a teammate. Experience in program or event management in a nonprofit or educational environment. Applicant should be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment wearing multiple hats and working with a volunteer staff.They should be comfortable making extensive use of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel as well as Dropbox file sharing.

Primary Duties:The primary role of the Coordinator, Leadership Programs is to manage and coordinate all aspects of Leadership Fairfax’s three Community Leadership Programs (Emerging Leaders Institute – ELI; Leadership Fairfax Institute – LFI; Lifetime Leaders Program – LLP).

Specific duties include:

  • Work directly with CEO and planning Committees to support the programs with all details.
  • Communicate with the program participants.
  • Ensure supporting materials such as the Participant’s and Advisor’s Guides are up-to-date.
  • Support volunteer program advisors as needed.
  • Coordinate speakers, agendas and evaluations for program days.
  • Liaise with Leadership Fairfax Administrator in the provision of locations and food for class days.
  • Assist in running of class days, including setup and tear-down, with help from other Leadership Fairfax staff and volunteers.
  • Generally, attend class social hour at the conclusion of class days.

  • Outcome driven: Detail oriented with a focus on agreed upon outcomes

 Job Requirements

  • Program and/or event management experience in a nonprofit organization or educational environment
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage projects to achieve agreed upon goals
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Special events and partner/sponsor cultivation experience
  • Knowledge of Fairfax County
